Current and Pending for Mentors on K awards

NIH K applications require mentors to submit a “Current and Pending Support” attachment with the application and this document is different from an Other Support.  The NIH instructions require the following for Current and Pending Support attachments:

  1. Limited to three pages
  2. Only include projects that are relevant to the candidate’s research plan
  3. Includes the following information for each project:
    1. Project Number
    2. Source
    3. Major Goals
    4. Project start and end dates
    5. Total Award Amount
  4. Does not include effort or overlap information

Because these documents are not Other Support and are not “complete”, there should not be a certification block and signatures on the Current and Pending Support document.  At JIT and RPPR stage, the practice should also be to not provide Other Support documents for mentors unless specifically required by NIH.  When requesting these documents from other departments, please use “Current and Pending Support” vs. “Other Support” so that there is an understanding of what is being requested.  The pre-award office does not need to pre-review these documents before the application routes since they are not signed, they will be reviewed with the application itself.
