RCR FAQs

New faculty and staff engaged in research and starting employment at Duke are required to complete one RCR-100 and one RCR-200 course within 90 days.

All Duke faculty and staff engaged in research are required to participate in the Faculty and Staff RCR Program. Someone is considered a researcher for the purposes of this training requirement if they are involved in the design, conduct, or reporting of research as part of their job duties at Duke. Other populations at Duke, such as undergraduate and graduate students, are also required to complete RCR training. However, these requirements are separate from the Faculty and Staff RCR Program.

A person newly identified as conducting research at Duke and therefore as being subject to the RCR training requirement will need to complete an RCR-100 course and an RCR-200 course within 90 days of joining the Duke research community. RCR-200 training will need to be refreshed on an ongoing basis every three years.

RCR credit will be transferred from CITI to Duke on a weekly basis for successful completion of eligible courses taken through the "Duke RCR" CITI institution. No additional individual attestation of program completion is required for the Duke Faculty and Staff RCR Program.
