CRNC Annual Revalidation

DUHS requires that all RN’s complete an annual revalidation of critical skills in seven core competency categories.  To meet this requirement, we will be offering three revalidation sessions at 3024 Pickett Road, Durham, NC on the dates indicated below.   Please use the REDCap link to schedule for ONE of these three sessions.  There will be prerequisite LMS modules for certain core categories (bring your certificates of completion to the training session).  Prior to scheduling, check with your RPM to determine if your CRU is requiring specific modules or if you can choose.

Monday, January 22, 2023 from 09:00-12:00

Be prepared to choose one revalidation module in each of the seven required categories.

CRNCs can access the link here: https://redcap.duke.edu/redcap/surveys/?s=JAEWLPKMELEHRXHX

Please remember this cannot serve as an initial competency checkoff.  These sessions are a review of critical components for each of the skills or competencies.

New Online Modules to Enhance the Clinical Research Internship Experience

We are thrilled to announce the launch of three new training modules designed to enrich the experience of both clinical research interns and their internship preceptors (i.e. the individuals guiding the intern's experience at Duke). These self-paced online modules are accessible through the Duke LMS and aim to provide valuable insights for a successful and responsible clinical research internship at Duke. Find more information about each module housed on both the CTSI Clinical Research Internship Portal (CRISP) and DOCR Onboarding and Training websites.

For Interns:

  1. Getting Started with Your Clinical Research Internship | Register: DOCR-CRISP-101 | 00187657
This "Getting Started" module covers the purpose of a clinical research internship, the intern's role, ownership of the experience, and general professional expectations. Completion of this module is mandatory for all clinical research interns onboarded through CRISP.
  2. Clinical Research Intern “Time Out” Training: Pausing to Protect Study Participants + Their Privacy | Register: DOCR-CRISP-102 | 00187658
The "Time Out" training equips interns with the skills to navigate critical situations during their internship responsibly. This module covers moments when interns should pause, think, and seek assistance, especially when dealing with sensitive data. Completion of this module is mandatory for all clinical research interns onboarded through CRISP.

For Internship Preceptors, including PI mentors and staff-level supervisors of interns:

  1. Clinical Research Internship Preceptor Training | Register: DOCR-CRISP-103 | 00187656

For internship preceptors, this module provides insights into hosting a clinical research intern successfully. It covers preceptor responsibilities, creating a conducive learning environment, determining suitable activities for interns, and setting boundaries for data access. Completion of this module is mandatory for preceptors of clinical research interns onboarded through CRISP.

Please reach out to crisp@duke.edu with any questions.

DID YOU KNOW?

REDCap: Did you know an image or PDF can be previewed before downloading?

New action tag @INLINE-PREVIEW: When added to a file upload or description text field, a preview button will be displayed next to the field if the uploaded file is an image or PDF file. Clicking the preview button will immediately display the image/PDF inline on the page. This allows users to view the file without having to download it.

Ex: A study team wants to add a PDF version of the consent to the eConsent, using the @INLINE-PREVIEW will allow participants to preview the PDF by clicking the magnifying glass. The PDF can still be downloaded by selecting the file name.
