Researcher view of Effort Management Tools now live
School of Medicine/Nursing researchers; you can now view all your research effort commitments in one place!
The benefits of the Effort Management Tools include:
Navigating to the Effort Summary View in MRH - Faculty Guide
- Open myRESEARCHhome.
Click “Portfolio” in the top navigation bar. This will launch myPortfolio.
Click on the "Projects" tab in myPortfolio
Click “View Effort Summary”, which is located on the left under Active Awards and Additional Activities.
This will launch the Effort & Commitment Summary view, shown below.
- To download a spreadsheet of the information shown on the screen, click the "Download spreadsheet" button in the Effort Management Tools taskbar.
- To access the Other Support Tool, click the "Other Support Tool" button in the Effort Management Tools taskbar. This will produce a working Other Support document that will need to be reviewed and supplemented by your Grant Manager and approved by ORA prior to submission to sponsors.
Please meet with your Grant Managers to review current active commitments and actual effort.
New Other Support Guidance is Available for School of Medicine and School of Nursing!
We recently released a guide to completing and reviewing Other Support using the Other Support Tool in the Effort Management System. This guide is intended for both departmental Grant Managers who are developing Other Support documents and ORA Administrators who review them.

SOM Measurable Effort Policy
Reminder: Principal Investigators and Senior/Key personnel must meet their committed effort as promised to the sponsor over the course of the project. PIs and investigators named by the sponsor must maintain measurable allocated effort on projects as required by sponsors.
