iLab@Duke Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
For additional questions, please email researchresources@duke.edu.
What is iLab?
Similar to CoreResearch@Duke, iLab is a web-based enterprise software used for managing research services and equipment use across institutions through facilitating service requests, billing and invoicing, reporting and a number of other functions. Some information about this product can be found on Agilent’s website.
Why is Duke making the change from CoreResearch@Duke to iLab?
LabVantage is reaching end of life and the company has decided to not continue to develop and support this software. Agilent iLab offers an effective solution that aligns with Duke’s operational needs and is commonly used at other institutions.
Who is switching over to iLab?
All current and prospective Core Facilities, Service Centers, and users in CoreResearch@Duke will transition to this new system over a period of approximately 2 years.
Who will have access to iLab?
Any user who currently requires access to CoreResearch will have access to the new iLab platform once it is live. A process for requesting access will also be available for new users.
What is the linking process and when will it be available?
The information about the linking process will be available soon. We expect financial integration to be complete in March or April, and linking can begin right after.
What should I expect from this software transition?
There will be the need for some modified business processes in the new system, and we will be determining how to effectively manage and support this as we go through the development process. Agilent will provide comprehensive training materials, and we will develop supplemental guides to ensure a smooth transition.
How will iLab be rolled out to the institution?
Cores and Service Centers will transition from CoreResearch to iLab in waves of approximately four Cores at a time. The first wave is expected to go live in the iLab system in the first quarter of 2026. The project team will notify users as each wave transitions to keep the community informed about which platform to use for accessing services provided by each Core.
A list of Cores currently active in the iLab system can be found here.
